Miserable George
Saturday, January 23rd, 2010
I picked up this god awfully ugly craft kit at the thrift shop across the street from me today. This particular model is listed as "Miserable George", and is crypto-satanically "Fun for Ages 6 to 66".
I had planned to make this, but when I unpacked the instructions a bunch of weevily little larva things fell out. They were completely dessicated and seemed dead, but now I'm worried that I just brought lord-knows-what kind of pest into my house, so I shoved it all into a plastic bag and stuck it out in the hall. I'm a bit paranoid about infestation, what with all the bed bug horror stories one hears.

Friday, January 15th, 2010
The (surprisingly coherent) entry for this dream fragment reads "Photo of dead Victorian baby propped up as if rising from bed, staged"

I remember that in the dream I understood that such photos were commonly used as a way of assuaging parents' grief by showing that their deceased babies had actually been resurrected and were still alive. I marveled at how anybody could ever be fooled by such cheap trickery, what with the clearly visible wires holding the corpse aloft.

Dream Sketch

I've tried in the past to keep dream journals, but it's just too much damn work. My dreams are typically very involved, extended messes, and I forget them very quickly, all of which makes daily transcription unfeasible. Lately, I've just been writing down any little scrap or image that grabs me as I wake up from various dreams throughout the night. Here's a sketch of one such image from the other night, when I dreamed of a bird that was unable to regurgitate to feed its baby. Somebody had performed surgery upon it and the baby bird was eating directly from its mother's opened stomach. It sounds gruesome, but in the dream it was quite touching. The mother bird had been anesthetized and operated upon with great care.

Another entry from the same night reads
"The sea and stars are as white as night near sacred Zumaric.
cult incantation albinos"
WTF?!
