Good news! I was walking down 14th Street in NYC today, and who should I see but the 14th Street Kitty! He used to be the cat-in-residence of this crappy little shack of a store wedged in an alleyway between two buildings--one of those places that sells Biggie Smalls T-shirts, bootleg CDs, and Nag Champa incense. He would always be hanging out on the sidewalk, cool & collected in the midst of the chaos, and whenever I was in the area I'd always make sure to swing by & give him a pat. Back around November, I went to see him and found the store closed down, empty, no sign of the cat...until today! He seems to have taken up residence at a 99-cent store a few doors down. His stomach was shaved, so he'd probably had surgery, poor guy, but he seemed good otherwise.
Here's some pics of him, representin', back around Sep. 07

Still missing, unfortunately, is another denizen of the area: The Magic Mouse Man. He was a big, walrus-looking guy who could usually be found sitting on a milk crate on the corner of 14th & 6th, intoning "Magic Mouse!" over and over as he played with one of the little plastic mice on a string that he was selling. I bought a few from him over the years, but I could never get the damn things to work right. Here's a drawing of him from around last summer, when I saw him last.
